February is for lovers. The shortest month of the year, and the one in which we choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day, seems destined for romantic getaways. Candlelight and roses, champagne, and chocolate truffles, all great combinations for an evening of romance. But, for those of you who want to plan the ultimate Cape Cod getaway to celebrate your loved one, it’s time to get a little more creative.
Set the Stage
Let’s start with your accommodations. The Captain Farris House, located in the lovely historic village of Bass River, was simply built for romance. Spacious suites with sitting rooms, luxurious spa bathrooms, and cozy fireplaces set the stage for romance. In the quiet comfort of your guest room, you can while away the hours nestled together on an antique hand-carved queen or king bed in front of a warm fire. Wake to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and homemade muffins wafting through the inn while you prepare for the day. Perhaps a soak in a spa tub or an invigorating shower under a rainforest showerhead will set the tone for the day. Then take a seat in our elegant dining room at a table for two to enjoy a specially prepared two-course breakfast. What a way to start the day!
Plan an Adventure
Adventure lurks around every corner on Cape Cod, even in winter. The wild Atlantic waves crash along the shoreline, reshaping the landscape with every swell. You never know what you may find cast up from the sea for you to discover while strolling along a beach in winter. Seashells and sea glass, driftwood, and lobster pots often await the early bird. Take a heart-pounding trek through the dunes at the Cape Cod National Seashore. Or, if you prefer something a little more serene, seek out the nature trails that meander through pine forests and marshes behind the Cape Cod Natural History Museum in Brewster. Two Audubon properties offer similarly beautiful hikes in Wellfleet and Barnstable that ultimately lead to Cape Cod Bay.
Relax, Restore, Renew
What could be more relaxing than a day of pampering at the spa? Lie back and let expert spa therapists massage away your tension and stress. Try an aroma-therapy session to awaken your senses. Splurge on mani-pedis, facials, and more. With several wonderful spas located close to our Inn, you won’t lack for choices. But book early. February is a popular month for indulging loved ones at a spa. We recommend Solstice Day Spa in Hyannis, Cape Cod Body and Soul right here in South Yarmouth, and Salon 700 & Day Spa, also in Hyannis.
Afternoon Tea
Wind down with a soothing cup of tea and an array of finger sandwiches and sweet treats in our seasonal Tea Room. Open Saturdays and Sundays from November through May, we offer two seatings: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM or 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Served in our charming dining room or indoor courtyard, the warm and inviting atmosphere encourages intimate conversation. We love hearing the laughter that emanates from the Tea Room, as guests relax and enjoy afternoon tea. Reservations are required.
Wrap It Up and Tie It with a Ribbon
You can up the ante for your romantic Cape Cod getaway, by adding a special surprise or two. Let us pamper you with one of our packages or hand-picked add-ons. Imagine finding a bottle of prosecco chilling in your room on arrival. Add flowers or chocolate-dipped strawberries for a festive ambiance. Or splurge on the Captain’s Sweet Romance Package that delivers it all and more, complete with a late checkout option to extend your stay.
That’s it, in a nutshell. How to plan the ultimate Cape Cod getaway to celebrate Valentine’s Day or any romantic occasion that deserves special attention. View our rooms and choose the one that captures your heart. Let us help you rekindle the flame and make memories at our romantic bed and breakfast on Cape Cod.
