What Is the Yarmouth Seaside Festival?
The Yarmouth Seaside Festival began in 1978 and has brought community members and tourists together for fun-filled weekends ever since. There are vendors, live music performances, special events, and plenty of activities for all attendees. Best of all, the festival is free!
Events at the Yarmouth Seaside Festival 2019
Craft Fair
Kick things off with the Craft Fair over at the Joshua Sears Memorial Field. It takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Take a stroll and browse unique wares from over 125 artisans and food vendors while talented musicians provide the ambiance. As you peer into each booth, you might find some treasures like jewelry, ceramics, soaps, and so much more. Pick something up for your home or grab a gift for a friend!
Seaside Road Race
Are you up for a little exercise and friendly competition during your visit? Consider signing up for the Seaside Road Race. It’s a scenic, 5K route along Bass River, and you can treat yourself to some tasty treats and maybe even win some awards at the finish line. Advance registration is $20, but the price increases to $25 on the day of the race, which starts on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
Parade
Many great celebrations include a parade, and the Yarmouth Seaside Festival is no exception. This year’s theme is American pride, so feel free to dress accordingly or simply come as you are and enjoy the spectacle on Sunday at noon. The marchers and festive floats begin their journey at the old drive-in on Route 28 and continue to the State Police barracks. Grab a prime viewing spot along Route 28 and watch the marching bands, vintage cars, costumed participants, and more make their way through the community.
Fireworks
Don’t forget to head over to Seagull Beach at 8:00 p.m. to witness the Yarmouth Seaside Festival fireworks, too! If you’d like, you can even arrive a little early to soak up some sun and search for seashells with your sweetheart before the sun sets and the fireworks begin. You might be able to spot some boats passing through the Nantucket Sound!
Canoe & Kayak Race
Once Columbus Day officially arrives on Monday, we get to enjoy the YSF Canoe & Kayak Race on Bass River. Register your boat at Bass River Beach if you think you have what it takes to challenge the other contestants. The sound of the shotgun at 10:00 a.m. marks the start of the race as participants do their best to arrive at Wilbur Park first. There’s even a small celebration at the end that everyone can enjoy!
Sand Sculpture Contest
If creativity is more your style, feel free to join the Sand Sculpture Contest at Bass River Beach on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. It’s an excellent opportunity for some fun in the sun as you craft a masterpiece out of Cape Cod’s sparkling sand. Even if your sculpture doesn’t turn out the way you envisioned it, you still get to relax and admire a beach full of unique creations.
